MEASUREMENT
Approx 20" [51 cm] square.
GAUGES
16 sts and 20 rows = 4" [10 cm] in stocking st on larger needles. 25 sts and 26 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Basketweave Pat on larger needles.
Directions
Pillow Front
With larger needles, cast on
122 sts.
1st row: (RS). K3. *C4B. Rep from * to last 3 sts. K3.
2nd row: Purl.
3rd row: K1. *C4F. Rep from * to last st. K1.
4th row: Purl.
These 4 rows form Basketweave
Pat.
Cont in Basketweave Pat until work from beg measures approx 7" [18 cm], ending on a 4th row.
Next row: K5. (K2tog. K8) 11 times. K2tog. K5. 110 sts.
Next row: Purl.
Proceed as follows:
1st row: (RS). *K1. Sl1Pwyif. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: *P1. Sl1Pwyib. Rep from * to end of row.
These 2 rows form Linen St Pat.
Cont in Linen St Pat until work from beg measures 13" [33 cm], ending on a WS row.
Next row: (RS). K5. (Kfb. K8) 11 times. Kfb. K5. 122 sts.
Next row: Purl.
Proceed in Basketweave Pat until work from beg measures approx 20" [51 cm], ending on a 4th row. Cast o knitwise.
Fringe Strips (make 2) With larger needles, cast on 65 sts.
1st row: (WS). Purl.
2nd row: K1. *yo. K2tog. Rep from * to end of row.
Cast o knitwise.
Cut lengths of yarn 7" [18 cm] long. Taking 4 strands tog, knot into fringe, looping through each eyelet along fringe strip. Trim fringe evenly.
Pillow Back (make 2 pieces alike) With smaller needles, cast on 82 sts
1st row: (RS). K2. *P2. K2. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: *P2. K2. Rep from * to last 2 sts. P2.
Rep last 2 rows twice more (6 rows total).
Change to larger needles and roceed in stocking st (beg on a knit row) until work from beg measures 13" [33 cm], ending on a purl row.
Cast o knitwise.
FINISHING
Sew Fringe Strips to Pillow Front as shown in photo.
Overlap Back pieces to match Front, with ribbed sections in center to create opening to insert pillow form. Sew outer edge seams. Insert pillow form.
