SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 1 yd. 45" wide muslin
- 1 3/4 yds of different fall ribbons (enough to cover at least 14" wide)
- 1 pkg 1/4" and 1/2" fusible webbing
- Disappearing fabric marker
- Matching thread
- Basic sewing supplies
- Iron and ironing surface
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut muslin into two 18"x 45" pieces; stitch together into a 18"x 89" piece.
- Cut muslin to desired length plus 1" for hem (61").
- With the fabric marker, draw a line 1/2" on each end for narrow hem on top side of muslin (hem will be over the top of the ribbons).
- Plan and lay out ribbon in desired order.
- Use the disappearing marker to draw a straight line 1 1/2" from one long edge.
- To hold ribbons in place while sewing, follow manufacturer's directions and fuse webbing to WS of ribbon edges.
- Fuse first ribbon to muslin along drawn line beginning and ending at the drawn hem line.
- Stitch ribbon to muslin as close to edges as possible.
- Fuse next ribbon along the edge of the first ribbon and stitch both edges.
- Repeat with ribbons following your pattern for approximately 14".
- When all the ribbons are stitched on, cut side of muslin 1 1/2" beyond the last ribbon.
- Press up 1/2" on all sides and sew a narrow hem; covering ends of ribbons with the hem.

Neat idea!
I’m not doing it your way. I’m using an edge joining foot. Sewing ribbon together, wishing I had taken wire out. Base fabric cut slightly larger. Wrap base fabric edges over sides, pin, sew, and done.

Not as easy as it looks
Between feed dogs jamming, ribbon not lining up straight and lots of time...I gave up!
