  • Optional: Template plastic to make a hexagon template
  • Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
  • Basic sewing supplies

  • Sewing machine

DIRECTIONS:

NOTE: Read all instructions before cutting and sewing. Use accurate 1/4" seams.
  1. From background fabric, cut (43) - 4 1/2" strips x WOF. Sub cut into (331) - hexagons using 4 1/2" Cut mark on EZ template or use template made, following Diagram 1.
  2. Cut (3) - 4 1/2" strips x WOF from 9 fabrics. Sub cut into hexagons so you have (24) sets of 6 for flowers and (24) hexagons for centers.
  3. Lay hexagons out in rows following Diagram 2 for correct placement. Stack pieces in order by row and label. Put two hexagons together as shown in Diagram 3. Mark a dot 1/4" from top and bottom at 1/4" seam allowance line. Sew between dots being sure to secure with backstitching. Continue to mark dots and sew together until you’ve completed the 27 rows. Odd rows will have 18 hexagons and even rows will have 19 hexagons.
  4. You will use Y seams to sew the rows together. Lay row 2 on top of row 1 right sides together. Match the first pair of dots and pin through to hold pieces together. Repeat with the second pair of dots. Sew the section from dot to dot, being sure to backstitch at end of seam. Go to the next section, open pieces and repeat pinning dot to dot, being careful to pull seam allowance to the side so it doesn’t get caught in the stitching. Continue to sew till row is finished.
  5. Lay row 3 over row 2 and repeat the process until all rows are sewn together. Press.
  6. Sandwich backing, batting and top of quilt. Quilt as desired.
  7. Trim sides as shown in Diagram 2. Cut (8) - 2 1/2" x WOF binding strips, join them and bind the quilt.
  8. It should finish at approximately 70"x 90".
