- Contrast A Soft Ecru (01004) 2 balls or 215 yds/197 m 1 ball or 37 yds/34 m
- Contrast B Indigo (01114) 2 balls or 215 yds/197 m 1 ball or 34 yds/31 m
- Size U.S. 7 (4.5 mm) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
MEASUREMENTS
Tea Towel: Approx 16" [40.5 cm] wide x 24" [61 cm] long, excluding fringe.
Dishcloth: Approx 8" [20.5 cm] square.
GAUGE
20 sts and 28 rows = 4" [10 cm] in pat.
Directions
The instructions are written for Tea Towel. If changes are necessary for Dishcloth the instructions will be written thus (). When only 1 number is given, it applies to both projects.
Notes: Worked over multiples of 4 sts + 1. Tea towel is worked lengthwise. Carry color not in use loosely up side of work.With MC, cast on 121 (41) sts. 1st and 2nd rows: Purl. 3rd row: (RS). With A, K4. *Sl1Pwyib. K3. Rep from * to last st. K1. 4th row: K4. *Sl1Pwyif. K3. Rep from * to last st. K1. 5th row: With MC, knit. 6th row: Purl. 7th row: With A, K2. *Sl1Pwyib. K3. Rep from * to last 3 sts. Sl1Pwyib. K2. 8th row: K2. *Sl1Pwyib. K3. Rep from * to last 3 sts. Sl1Pwyib. K2. 9th row: With MC, knit. 10th row: Purl. Rep 3rd to 10th rows until work from beg measures approx 15 (7½ )" [39.5 (19) cm], ending on a 4th row. Next 2 rows: With MC, knit. Cast off .
Fringe (Tea Towel Only): Cut strands of A 8" [20.5 cm] long. Taking 2 strands tog, fold in half and knot into fringe between each 3rd and 4th row, and each 7th and 8th row repeats (A rows) across short edges of tea towel. Trim fringe evenly.
