Needlepoint Vase

Intermediate Weekend Project

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Plastic canvas
  • Big Twist Value Worsted Yarn, various colors
  • Needlepoint needles 

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut one 13 1/2"x 14 1/2" piece out of the plastic canvases.

  2. Cut six 13 1/2"x 4 1/2" (21 holes across) pieces out of the plastic canvases.

  3. Take the larger piece and sew the two 13 1/2" ends together to make a cylinder.
  4. Stitch the pattern onto each of the six smaller pieces. Use two strands of yarn at a time and work using a diagonal stitch. Use photo as a guide or create your own pattern.

  5. Attach one 13 1/2" side of each of the six smaller pieces to the larger piece evenly spaced around the cylinder. Curve each piece to meet where the next piece is attached and stitch in place.

  6. You should form 6 petal pieces off of the cylinder.

  7. Finish the top and bottom edges with yarn by whip stitching edges with a double strand of yarn.
