DIRECTIONS:

To print the templates, click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.

Potholder:

  1. Cut 2 templates (A) from printed cotton, 2 from cotton batting, and 1 from Insul-Bright Insulated lining. Layer one piece of cotton fabric, one layer of cotton batting, one layer of Insul-Bright, one layer of cotton batting, and one layer of printed cotton, with right side of printed cotton facing out. Machine quilt following stitch lines on template.
  2. Cover raw edge with bias tape starting bias tape end 2" from a curved corner. Top stitch in place all the way around, overlapping starting end of bias tape and continuing to stitch a 5" tail. (See diagram 1). From tail of bias tape, create a hanging loop by turning under 1/4" and folding tail back on itself, tacking in place.

Oven Mitt:

  1. Cut 2 template (B) from printed cotton, 2 REV from printed cotton, 2 from cotton batting, and 2 from Insul-Bright Insulated lining. Layer one piece of printed cotton, one layer of Insul-Bright, one layer of cotton batting, and one layer of printed cotton with right side of printed cotton facing out. Machine quilt following stitch lines on template. Repeat for second side of oven mitt.
  2. Pin both pieces of quilted oven mitt together and stitch around outside edge, leaving bottom edge open. Clip curves and inside corner of thumb. Turn right side out.
  3. Cover raw edge of bottom of oven mitt with bias tape by placing raw edge between folds of tape and top stitching in place. Cut a 5" length of bias tape and top stitch along folded edges. Fold in half and turn ends under 1/4." Tack in place alongside seam at opening to create a hanging loop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun project! I made the oven mitt project. The pattern is big, it needs some adjustments in sizing. Also, had to use size #100 needles for thickness, and had no issues.
