SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 9 - Bernat Alize EZ Wool
  • 2 - Coordinating Bernat Alize EZ Wool

NOTES:
Working yarn is held behind stitches throughout work. Loops from working yarn are always pulled through stitches from back to front of work. (all stitches for this project will be knit stitches)
Instructions are written with yarn end starting at the far right.
One loop is left unworked at beginning and end of each row.
Be careful not to skip a loop on your working yarn. Keep checking the back of your work for loose loops.
Keep an eye on the last loop of each row. The sides of your work will tend to curl and become easy to miss. If you do miss one it is easy to just take out that column and work the loop in.

Binding off: Take loop 2 and insert into loop 1. Take loop 3 and insert into loop 2. Continue to finish row.
To add new skein, leave 2 loops and continue working on the project with the next loop on the working yarn. After project is finished, cut loops and weave into back of work.
Right side of project is facing at all times.

DIRECTIONS:

To add more rows or more loops for width of sweater use these approximate measurements as a guide: 1 skein will complete 6 rows and approximately 7"
Count 60 loops for foundation row (noting yarn end is at far right and all loops are facing upwards.

Row 1 - Working from left to right, pull the 62 loop through loop 60, to create a knit stitch. Leaving one loop from working yarn at end.
Row 2 - X Stitch- Take first loop and place over 2nd loop. Hold these loops and with working yarn, knit through the first loop and then through the next. Take the 3rd loop and cross it over the 4th loop. Use next loop from working yarn and work through each of the loops. Continue to cross the loops to end. Count your loops to make sure you have 60 loops and 1 unworked loop at each end.
Row 3 - Continue back with crossing the first loop over 2nd loop. Skip first loop from working yarn and starting with next loop work through the crossed loops. Continue working the cross over stitch to end.
Row 4 - Knit across row leaving a loop at beginning and end of row.
Row 5 - 27 - Knit through loops leaving a loop at beginning and end of row. Ending on right side of project.
Row 28 - (This will start the separation of front panels, arm hole, and back) . Knit through the next 12 loops. Leave the rest of the row unworked. We will come back to these stitches after first front panel is worked.
Row 29 - 33 - Knit across leaving a loop at beginning and end of rows. At end of row 33, count out 3 loops and cut yarn.
Go back to row 28 of front panel and bind off 4 stitches for armhole space.
Start with last loop of bind off and knit across 28 loops. Continue to work for 5 more rows for the back of sweater.
After the 6 rows are worked, count out 3 loops and cut yarn.
Go to the 28th row and bind off 4 stitches for armhole of second front panel and continue to knit to end.
Work 5 more rows to finish front panel. Count out 3 loops and cut yarn.
Fold the sweater with the front panels over back with right sides together. Line up the loose loops at top of back and front panels. Working on the 12 loops from one front, and starting at armhole, pull the front loop to back and the back loop through space in front. Alternate and bind off the loops of front and back.. Repeat for the second front panel.
There will be unworked stitches between the two front panels on back of sweater for the neck.
Bind off the loops, starting at bottom of sweater and work up front, around neck loops and down other side of sweater. Cut last loops, tie and weave into back.

Sleeves: (make 2)
Count out 24 loops.
Knit 2 rows leaving a loop free at each end.
Knit 2 rows of cross loops as per front.
Knit 12 more rows.
Fold the sleeves with right sides together.
Line up the loops from each side of sleeve.
Pull the loops from one side through to other side.
Bind off starting from end of sleeve alternating loops from front and back.
Cut last loop, tie and weave in ends.
After the two sleeves have been completed, insert into armhole of sweater and pull loops through, and then bind off.

Collar
Starting at bottom of sweater with the right side facing you, pull loops from working yarn through the bind off edge, evenly spacing them around to opposite side.
Work back through these loops and knit for 3 more rows.
After working the rows, count out 2 loops and cut. Cut the loops and weave in the ends.

Pockets: Make 2
Count out 9 loops
Knit for 7 rows. No need to leave any loops at the ends of rows.
Bind off loops at end. Cut yarn.
Center the pocket on front.
From the inside of sweater and leaving 2 loops from working yarn free, pull loops through sweater and through the edge of pocket. Work loops around pocket leaving the top open.
Cut yarn leaving 2 loops. Bind off loops on front of pocket to end, weave in ends.

Stripes (use contrast yarn)
Starting at one end and following a row of the sweater, pull loops from the working yarn up from inside of the sweater to front.
When you reach the end of the row, leave two loops and cut. Go back to the beginning and pull the 2nd loop through the first, loop, pull the 3rd loop through the 2nd and work to end. Pull last loop through to back, tie and weave ends in.
Continue adding as many strips as desired along bottom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the look of the sweater, bad instructions I love the look of this sweater and was excited when I received my yarn. Love the yarn I made a blanket and it came out beautiful. I had a great difficulty understanding the instructions, I highly recommend you add a tutorial video. Trying to figure out how to put this together was a nightmare. I'm still working on it, hoping it comes out as nice as the picture.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Help Needed Newbie; not certain of instructions. Is there a video of this pattern somewhere? I finally found the video for the multi textured blanket ... it made all the difference and I have almost completed my blanket.
