  2. ASSEMBLY:
    • Once you have finished cutting fabric use the diagrams and Fabric Placement Key to plan your blocks for the quilt.
    • Follow diagrams and notes attached to sew the quilt together.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Before sewing a 2 1/2" strip to a partially sewn Log Cabin piece, first pin units together with the 2 1/2" strip UNDERNEATH the partially sewn piece. Place pins down the side and one at the bottom to make sure the corners match up. The feed dogs on the sewing machine and the pinning will help to keep the sides lined up.
  • Sandwich backing, batting and quilt top. The backing and batting should extend out slightly beyond the edges of the quilt top.
  • Baste by pinning using quilters safety pins or spray baste.
  • Quilt as desired.
  • Add hand tied knot in the center of each block. Cut a 6" piece of embroidery thread. Thread an embroidery needle. Push the needle down from the top of the quilt leaving about a 1 1/2" or 2" tail coming up through the top of the quilt. Make a tiny stitch and bring the needle back up to the top of the quilt. Cut the thread about 1 1/2" or 2" to make two ties. Repeat with the remaining thread, but this time, make your small stitch go across the first one sewn, and leave two 1 1/2" or 2" tails coming up through the top of the quilt. Hold two tails in each hand and tie a double knot. Trim tails to 1" or desired length.
  • Use different colored threads or all the same.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big Log Cabin! I love the log cabin quilts, and I think they are fairly easily to make. It was the first quilt I made.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pattern update Request To answer the other reviewers, the blocks finished size are 18" not 12", so the quilt finishes at 54"x54". To the pattern designer, it would be helpful to have the cutting instructions on the pattern as well, instead of just the assembly instructions.
Date published: 2023-02-28
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Size From what I can tell by the picture this finished quilt would only be approximately 36"x36". The blocks appear to be 12 inches (finished size). Is the pictured quilt a true representation of the measurements and supply list of materials indicated? Very misleading if not!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Love this design but there's no patterns! The link for the "Get patterns" comes up with "URL Not Found", so this pattern can't be made. Can the link be fixed please?
