SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 3yds fleece for main section of blanket
- 2 1/8yds coordinating fleece for the flange piece of the blanket
- 2 3/8yds 1" webbing
- 2 parachute clips
- Basic sewing supplies
- Pattern template
DIRECTIONS:
To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.- Cut 2 pieces of fleece from the main color on fold, 48" long and width of fabric. Finished blanket measures 48"x 60".
- For the long flanges, fold the fleece in half crosswise with cut edges together, salvages should be on sides.
- Cut 2 pieces of the short flanges on fold 13"x 30" (13"x 60") and cut 2 pieces of long flanges on fold 13"x 36" (13"x 72")
- Keeping your pieces folded, place the pattern at top cut edge and cut out triangle pattern.
- Pin the short flange sections to the long flange sections, keeping the short sides opposite each other and the long sides opposite.
- Stitch 1/2" seam starting and stopping at small dots.
- Turn the flange right side out matching the small dots.
- Pin the raw edges together and baste.
- Pin the flange to the right side of one blanket section, keeping the raw edges even. Stitch around entire blanket with 1/2" seam.
- Pin the remaining blanket right sides together over the flange, having the raw edges even.
- Sew around using a 1/2" seam and leaving an opening for turning.
- Turn, sew opening closed.
- Cut 2 webbing straps 27 1/2".
- Cut 1 webbing piece for handle 25".
- Take one strap and one parachute clip.
- Weave one cut end through a side of the clip 1 3/4".
- Fold under 1/4" and stitch in place.
- Take the other side of strap and slip through remaining side of clip and stitch in place as you did the first.
- Take your second clip and remaining strap and sew as the first one.
- You should now have 2 straps with a parachute clips.
- Attach the two straps to the handle.
- Place the two straps in front of you with the parachute clip facing up.
- Take one end of the handle and wrap it around one of the straps close to the female side of clip.
- Stitch in place.
- Take the other end of the handle and wrap it around the other strap close to the female side of clip.
- Stitch in place.
- Fold the blanket into thirds lengthwise, and roll up.
- Wrap the straps around the blanket ends with handle going across center.
